HOME’s own A/ProfAmeeta Jain and Tom Keel of Deakin Business School, Deakin University, launched an online learning tool MOTIIVES in a seminar “Building Resilience: Homes and Gardens Seminar” on Saturday, the 12th October 2024.
The seminar was held at the Geelong library and attracted over 120 people from the community as well as many sponsors. Tom Keel is a Lecturer in Property & Real Estate & Sustainable Building and Ameeta is an Associate Professor in Property & Real Estate. This launch was part of a project in collaboration with Geelong Sustainability and is funded by the City of Greater Geelong.
The online learning modules based on the acronym ‘MOTIIVES’ to educate developers, builders and residents of the City of Greater Geelong. MOTIIVES will show how they can increase the sustainability and comfort of their home building/renovation project through decisions on Materials, Orientation, Thermal mass, Internal room placement, Insulation, Ventilation, Energy Efficiency and Smaller-size.
The aim for this session was for attendees to go away from the seminar with expert advice around sustainable homes, how they can make practical changes at home or create a plan themselves in the future. This event provided a fantastic opportunity to enhance local capacity for building sustainable homes and securing a sustainable future.
